Place of Birth: Cambridge, Massachusetts Family: Kent (father), Nancy Carlsson-Paige (mother), Kyle (brother) Born Matthew Paige Damon (the Paige from his mother's maiden name), Matt was an adorable and charming baby. Father, Kent Damon, a retired investment banker and mother, Nancy Carlsson-Paige, a professor of education at Lesley College couldn't have asked for better children than Matt and brother Kyle.
Having moved from Newton, Massachusetts (a very high class, high society type atmospheric Boston neighborhood) to Cambridge "for the schools and the chance to live across from a halfway house and near street people," his mom wanted him to learn about the real world and those who live in it. (One of those people turned out to be neighbor, Howard Zinn, who wrote "A People's History of the United States," which Matt mentions in Good Will Hunting.

A loving environment and a steady family support base guided baby Matt through the years of little league as well as adolescence of attending the Cambridge Rindge & Latin School.
