After filming "All the Pretty Horses" Matt Damon finds time to play a different kind of role; captain of the Yawkeys at the 1999 All-Star Baseball Home Run Derby in hometown Boston, Massachusetts at the famous Fenway Park.

The News of April 1999

Besides a quick drink after the Oscars, a little trip to Austin's huge South By Southwest (SXSW) Music, Film & Multimedia Festival, Matt is back in San Antonio, Texas (and has been since the end of March), filming "All the Pretty Horses" with director Billy Bob Thorton.

"Saving Private Ryan" won 5 Oscars at the 71st Annual Academy Awards including Best Direction for Steven Speilberg and much more.  Matt was o hand to support the movie and party hard afterwards.  Read all the buzz in this month's news section.

The News of February 1999

Oscar nominations are in and the excitement is buzzing in the air! "Saving Private Ryan" received 11 nominations and Matt will be onhand to support his film on Sunday March 21st at 8pm EST on ABC.

The News of January 1999

Happy New Year!  It's that time again.... the 56th Annual Golden Globe awards are set for Sunday, January 24th at 8pm EST on NBC and Matt Damon will be on hand to present an award as well as support his film, Saving Private Ryan' which was nominated for 5 awards!  All that and 'The Talented Mr. Ripley' and 'Dogma' being released and a new production of All the Pretty Horses' makes for a busy year!
